There's no affordable housing without new pits and quarries!

Ontario is built on stone, sand and gravel

Support Sustainable Growth

Support New Pits and Quarries

In a rapidly growing province, the need for essential resources like stone, sand and gravel is a no-brainer.

We need new housing, we need roads, we need hospitals and we need infrastructure.

None of those can happen without new pits and quarries.

Yet many Ontario politicians oppose new quarries to protect a small number of community activists at the expense of everyone else.

Sign our petition today to make it clear that you understand that the jobs, affordable housing and economic growth that come from pits and quarries are more important than the NIMBY interests of City Hall.

Help Build A Better Tomorrow

Ontario needs new pits and quarries.

Crush The Housing Crisis

Affordable housing thrives on a constant supply of local stone, sand, and gravel. The farther these pits and quarries are pushed away from where they are needed, the more distant affordable housing becomes. Support close-to-market quarries if you stand for accessible homes for all

Prevent Economic Standstill

Opposition to new pits and quarries isn't just a local issue; it's a full-stop on economic growth, job creation, and community well-being across the province. New pits and quarries are the foundation of our growth

Fight For Jobs

The aggregate industry isn't just about rocks; it's a lifeline for employment. Over half a million jobs in Ontario depend on a stable supply of aggregate. By opposing those hindering new quarry developments, you're standing up for job creation and the welfare of 500,000 workers and their families

Ontario's Gravel Crunch

The GTA is running out of stone, sand and gravel

01

Our reserves are running out

The pits and quarries that have built the Greater Golden Horseshoe are nearly depleted. A study by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce predicts the GTHA will run out of limestone in 10 years unless new pits and quarries are licensed

02

Our population is growing

Hundreds of thousands of new people are calling Ontario home each year. But unless we can build new pits and quarries, there will be no new homes to house them

03

Heads in the sand

Local activists say they support new, affordable housing. They say they support new schools and hospitals. They say they support jobs. But these same activists say "no" to new quarries. Unfortunately, you can't have one without the other.

04

We need forward thinking

We are approaching a gravel crunch. A growing population. Dwindling aggregate reserves. And NIMBYism. It's a recipe for economic disaster. And we are standing by, watching it happen. It's time to stand up for our collective good. It's time to stand up for the resources at the heart of our economy.
